Get Elevated – Hope for the Future – The Promise of His Return (12/4/24)

Scripture:
“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” – Revelation 22:20 (NIV)

One of the greatest sources of hope for Christians is the promise of Christ’s return. After Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised He would return to make all things new—to bring final justice, peace, and restoration. The hope of Christ’s return shapes the way we live today. It gives us a future that is guaranteed, a future where every wrong will be made right and every tear will be wiped away.

This promise of His second coming is a hope that can sustain us, especially in difficult times. When life feels overwhelming, we can look forward with confidence to the day when Christ will return and set all things right.

Reflection:
What does the promise of Christ’s return mean to you? How does it affect the way you view the challenges you face today and the way you live your life?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the promise that You will return to restore and redeem all things. I look forward to that day with hope. Help me to live in anticipation of Your return, and may it inspire me to live faithfully for You today. Amen.

Get Elevated – Hope for the Present – Living in Light of His Coming (12/3/24)

Scripture:
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” – Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)

Hope isn’t just something we look forward to in the future—it’s something that anchors us in the present. The hope of Christ’s coming, both His first and His second coming, is a firm foundation that stabilizes us in the midst of life’s storms. Just as an anchor holds a ship steady in rough waters, hope holds our hearts steady when we face difficulties, uncertainty, or fear.

This hope is not wishful thinking; it is based on the truth of God’s promises, which are certain and sure. No matter what challenges you face today, remember that Christ has come, and He will come again.

Reflection:
Where do you need an anchor of hope today? Is there a specific area of your life where you feel uncertain or discouraged? Invite the hope of Christ’s coming to steady your heart in that area.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being the anchor of my soul. In the midst of life’s storms, I rest in the hope of Your coming. Help me to live today in the security of Your promises. Amen.

Scripture:
“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)

The birth of Jesus was not an accident or an afterthought. It was the fulfillment of God’s long-awaited promise to send a Savior. Centuries before Jesus was born, prophets like Isaiah spoke of His coming. The promise of His arrival brought hope to a weary world. Israel had long been under the rule of oppressive nations, and they yearned for the Messiah who would deliver them.

When Jesus came, He came as Immanuel, which means “God with us.” This promise still holds today—God is with us in the person of Jesus Christ, and His coming is the fulfillment of God’s love for us.

Reflection:
As you reflect on the first coming of Christ, think about how this promise of God’s presence with us brings hope to your life. In what ways has God shown His faithfulness to you?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the hope we have in the first coming of Christ. Thank You for fulfilling Your promise to be with us. Help me to remember that You are always near, no matter what circumstances I face. Amen.

Scripture:
“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)

Advent begins with a message of hope. In the midst of darkness and uncertainty, God’s promise of a Savior shines through. The people of Israel had been waiting for generations for the promised Messiah, who would redeem them from oppression and bring peace to their world. Though they faced exile and hardship, they held fast to God’s promise of deliverance.

As we begin this Advent season, we too are reminded that hope is not based on our circumstances but on God’s faithfulness to fulfill His promises. Christ’s first coming was the fulfillment of God’s promise to send a Savior, and His second coming will fulfill the promise that He will make all things new.

Reflection:
What are you waiting for this Advent season? How does the hope of Christ’s coming encourage you in your current circumstances? Take a moment to reflect on the ways God has fulfilled His promises in your life.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the hope we have in Christ. As we wait in anticipation for Your coming, help us to trust in Your promises. May our hearts be filled with the hope that comes from knowing You are faithful. Amen.
